Bold Skin Babe Cosmetology Institute was created to expand access to high-quality beauty education, hands-on esthetics training, and entrepreneurship pathways for students who want a career in the beauty, skincare, wellness, and self-care economy.

Our vision is to build a downtown Boston training hub where creativity, culture, science, and workforce development meet.

Our Mission

To provide accessible, culturally responsive beauty education that prepares students—especially BIPOC, immigrant, and underrepresented learners—for careers in esthetics, skincare, beauty entrepreneurship, and wellness.

Founder: Akou Diabakhate

Akou Diabakhate is the founder of Bold Skin Babe LLC and the visionary behind Bold Skin Babe Cosmetology Institute.

As an immigrant entrepreneur, bilingual French and English speaker, international published model, and award-winning Boston business owner, Akou built Bold Skin Babe into a trusted spa and self-care brand serving diverse skin tones across Greater Boston.

Her work has been recognized by the City of Boston, including the ExtraOrdinary Award from the Mayor's Office of Women's Advancement, a Certificate of Recognition from Mayor Michelle Wu, and a state citation recognizing her success in securing grant funding.

Akou's mission is to turn beauty into opportunity—creating a school where students can gain skills, build confidence, enter the workforce, and become future business owners.

Current Growth Goal

BSBCI is building toward a permanent downtown Boston institute space with classrooms, treatment rooms, product training, student practice areas, and career-readiness programming.
